This pair of shorts was the first non-skirt I'd made for myself, and still to this day the only non-pajamas pair of shorts I own. They're made from one of the patterns in my collection, and very comfortable. This was my first practical use of french seams, which was enormously satisfying to get right. I'd understood how they work for a while but hadn't had the right project to try them on, and this just seemed like the right place and time to do so. Because of said french seams, it's very pleasant sensory-wise in terms of the seams, and just the general softness of the fabric itself.
I did have to get help from my neighbor to understand what the pattern wanted me to do with the waistband and beltloops, but once I understood how it worked, I fell in love with that method of doing waistbands and have used on nearly every project since then.
