In my ongoing quest to find shorts I am comfortable in and think look good, I dug through my pattern collection and found another shorts design to try out. This was a quick project since the shorts are two front pieces, two back pieces, a waistband, and elastic. I was out of proper elastic when I made these and since they were a one day make, I didn't want to have to go out and get elastic or wait for some to ship to finish the project, so I pulled some thin, narrow elastic from a pair of very old kid's jeans that are in my "patch fabric" pile and used that. Because that wasn't they type of elastic the pattern called for, I think the waistband part isn't as clean looking as it could be, and someday I might get around to replacing the elastic or making another pair, but for now that elastic works fine for what it needs to do.
After wearing them a bit, I have come to the conclusion that they are fantastic for sleep shorts, but if I want to use this pattern for shorts in the future, I'll want to add an inch or two to the top of the shorts. Because of the crotch seam to waistband length in the pattern as it is, I constantly have to pull them down so they don't ride up uncomfortably. They want to sit properly at my waist, but with the measurements of the pattern currently, that's just not possible. Luckily this is an easy adjustment to make, so future me won't have too much to figure out.
