This fall, I reached out to Leigh Anne Macquarrie of The Museum School to see if she needed help with the fall musical. When I was a student there, I was part of the set design club, and really enjoyed working on that side of the theatre world. It turned out that she did need my help, and it was fantastic to be back working on sets again. I did a majority of the design as well as a majority of the painting itself. The three weeks before the show, I was at the school for full school days working on set design 2-3 times a week, and in the weeks before that, I had been there once a week for anywhere from a few hours to the full day.
Being in a position of designing and executing the sets for that much of the musical was very rewarding, and some of my best work in all my set design years was created for that production of Willy Wonka.
